Uganda Martyrs University Unveils First TAGDev 2.0 Beneficiaries
π | UMU Welcomes First Cohort of Scholars under TAGDev 2.0

Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) has officially welcomed its first cohort of 16 scholars under the Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) program.
The announcement marks a major milestone in UMU’s journey since joining the RUFORUM-TAGDev consortium in 2023. Out of 928 applicants, only 16 were selected — a group carefully chosen with special attention to gender balance, inclusivity of refugees, and differently abled persons.
π TAGDev: A Game-Changer in African Agricultural Education
First launched in 2016 by the Mastercard Foundation and RUFORUM, TAGDev 1.0 reshaped agricultural higher education. Now, TAGDev 2.0 (2023–2033) takes the mission further by uniting 12 African universities committed to empowering young agricultural innovators across the continent.
